Surprise January 2026 Trip
Christophe made a surprise trip to Kalehe to visit the children and the house parents in January. Even though we FaceTime with them each week, it is different to be in person and give hugs and talk and be there in person. This video shows the children making pictures for their sponsors back in West Michigan, and the translations and more updates are below.
Children making artwork for their sponsors.
The first child speaking is Janvier and he is drawing a map of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and showing them where Kalehe is, so that his sponsors can come and visit him someday.
The next child speaking is Bulonza and she is drawing a picture of a flower, because if she could, she would give her sponsor a big bouquet of flowers to show her that she loves her.
The third child speaking is Ajirwa, and he is drawing a banana tree to show his sponsors his favorite food, and that it comes from the tree not far from where they live.
The fourth child is Asifiwe and she is also drawing a bouquet of flowers, roses actually, to send to her sponsors, to tell them that she loves them.
The next child is Chinyabaguma. He LOVES soccer and plays it in the outer yard with his brothers and sisters from the house. He wants to become a famous soccer player someday.
Muuijiza is drawing a map of Africa with her country outlined so her sponsors and others will come and visit because it is beautiful here.
The children are proud of their country, love the land and beauty all around them, and you can see them drawing with smiles and hope for their futures. It is beautiful to see the future of the East Africa in their hope and smiles.
